Wellington, Feb 19 (NationPress) The Indian High Commissioner to New Zealand, Neeta Bhushan, held a meeting with New Zealand Prime Minister Christopher Luxon on Wednesday, exploring avenues to enhance collaboration between the two nations across various sectors while reaffirming New Delhi's commitment to elevate the partnership to new heights.
"It was a significant privilege for the High Commissioner to engage with Christopher Luxon, Prime Minister of New Zealand, this morning. We deliberated on enhancing cooperation in pivotal areas: trade, investment, education, culture, research, and innovation," stated the Indian High Commission in New Zealand on X.
"Both our countries reiterated their commitment to further fortify and elevate our partnership to greater levels," the post continued.
India and New Zealand have historically enjoyed close and amicable relations. The nations are progressively strengthening their ties driven by mutual strategic interests and economic benefits, collaborating in trade, education, culture, research, and innovation, transcending geographical barriers to foster a prosperous partnership.
The alliance between the two countries is robust, founded on mutual respect and shared objectives. Despite the physical distance, a strong connection exists, bolstered by significant people-to-people interactions through a large Indian diaspora. This diaspora is pivotal in fostering close cultural ties between the two nations.
In October 2024, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Prime Minister Luxon convened on the sidelines of the ASEAN-India Summit in Vientiane, Laos. The leaders reflected on the successful visit of President Droupadi Murmu to New Zealand in August 2024. PM Modi welcomed New Zealand's participation in the International Solar Alliance and extended an invitation for Prime Minister Luxon to visit India.
