How is India's Delegation in Brussels Addressing Pakistan's Use of Terrorism?

Brussels, June 5 (NationPress) An all-party Parliamentary delegation from India, headed by BJP MP Ravi Shankar Prasad, engaged in a constructive dialogue with Christel Schaldemose, the Vice-President of the European Parliament, on Thursday. They brought to her attention the issue of Pakistan-sponsored cross-border terrorism and the abhorrent Pahalgam attack that occurred on April 22.

Prasad noted, "This was a significant opportunity to inform senior parliamentary officials about how cross-border terrorism is employed as a tool of state policy to hinder progress in Kashmir and incite communal discord. We condemned the brutal terrorist attack in Pahalgam and expressed gratitude for India's unwavering policy of zero tolerance towards terrorism," as stated by the Indian Embassy in Belgium on X.

In a post on social media, Prasad emphasized that the meeting served as a platform to reveal Pakistan's utilization of terrorism as a state policy aimed at sabotaging development in Kashmir and stirring communal unrest.

"We updated the Vice-President of the European Parliament regarding the situation in India concerning Pakistan-sponsored terrorism. We urged her to consider discussing the repercussions of supporting terrorist networks in Pakistan, especially in relation to international aid. We were truly impressed by her genuine affection for India and her dedication to upholding humanity and democracy," he shared in a post on X.

Following the meeting, the delegation conducted a media briefing in Brussels where they emphasized India's decisive actions against terrorism, the objectives of Operation Sindoor, and the vision for a stronger India-EU partnership in combating terrorism.

On the previous day, the delegation met with Members of the European Parliament (MEPs) to discuss strategies for combating terrorism, including cross-border terrorism, global peace, and strengthening India-EU relations. The EU delegation was informed about the deadly Pahalgam terror attack and India's precise response through Operation Sindoor, which conveyed a firm message of zero tolerance towards terrorism.

During the discussions, MEPs expressed their solidarity with the victims of the Pahalgam terror attack. The Indian delegates also engaged in meaningful discussions with prominent Brussels-based think tanks regarding the threat of terrorism, particularly cross-border terrorism targeting India.

The Indian parliamentarians shared insights about India's counter-terrorism initiatives, including Operation Sindoor, with think tank members in Brussels. They reiterated India's unified stance of zero tolerance against terrorism.

Additionally, the delegates interacted with members of the Indian diaspora, who voiced their strong support for the victims of recent terrorist attacks and endorsed India's resolute position against terrorism and its zero-tolerance policy.

They highlighted the crucial role of the diaspora in amplifying India's voice on the international stage.

The nine-member delegation represents a broad spectrum of political affiliations, including Ravi Shankar Prasad (BJP), Daggubati Purandeswari (BJP), Priyanka Chaturvedi (Shiv Sena-UBT), Ghulam Ali Khatana (BJP), Amar Singh (Congress), Samik Bhattacharya (BJP), M. Thambidurai (AIADMK), former Union Minister M.J. Akbar, and former Ambassador Pankaj Saran.

After concluding their visits to France, Italy, Denmark, and the UK, the Indian delegation is currently in Belgium as part of India's global diplomatic outreach to emphasize the importance of Operation Sindoor and the ongoing fight against Pakistan-sponsored cross-border terrorism.
