Imphal, Sep 9 (NationPress) In a series of operations over the last 24 hours, security forces in Manipur have successfully apprehended three militants, three drug traffickers, and dismantled an illegal local liquor production facility, according to officials on Tuesday.
A spokesperson for the defense reported that a collaborative effort involving the Army and Assam Rifles resulted in the capture of 11 militants from various factions. Additionally, five advanced firearms, narcotics, and other military-grade supplies were seized across multiple districts.
A high-ranking police official confirmed the arrest of three militants affiliated with the People's Liberation Army (PLA) and the Kangleipak Communist Party (KCP) in Imphal West district. These individuals were implicated in extortion schemes that involved financial threats directed at schools and local residents in the valley area.
Authorities confiscated a Bullet motorcycle, two mobile phones, four SIM cards, as well as numerous Aadhaar cards and PAN cards from their possession.
Police also detained two drug traffickers—Thanglunpau Sukte (32) and Hauginlian Phaipi (35)—at the Police Motor Vehicle Check Gate in Churchandpur district. They were found with 176 soap cases containing brown sugar weighing 1.9 kg and a vehicle.
Additionally, Aribam Mansish (23) was arrested in Imphal East district with 1.940 kg of Ganja in his possession.

According to a defense representative, over the past week, the Indian Army and Assam Rifles, in close collaboration with Manipur Police, carried out a series of targeted operations based on credible intelligence across seven districts: Churachandpur, Bishnupur, Chandel, Thoubal, Kakching, Imphal West, and Imphal East.
