Washington, April 1 (NationPress) The United States is strategically placing India at the forefront of its long-term global plans, with Ambassador Sergio Gor detailing a comprehensive agenda that encompasses defence, trade, and emerging technologies.

Gor, who currently serves as the US Ambassador to India, stated that Washington is focused on enhancing its collaboration with New Delhi, aspiring to evolve the bilateral relationship into what he termed the defining strategic partnership of the 21st century.

In a recent conversation with Span magazine, Gor noted that his diplomatic approach is influenced by his tenure under US President Donald Trump, emphasizing a results-driven style of diplomacy. “President Trump is the hardest working individual in politics. He acts swiftly and expects results,” he remarked, reiterating his commitment to achieving “concrete and positive outcomes for the American populace.”

He highlighted the significance of high-level leadership connections, asserting that “President Trump regards Prime Minister Modi as a genuine friend,” a bond he believes enhances the overarching partnership between the two nations.

According to the envoy, defence collaboration stands as the most crucial aspect of the relationship. He pointed to the ongoing Major Defence Partnership and a new decade-long framework that broadens cooperation in defence manufacturing, scientific innovation, and operational synergy.

Joint military drills like Malabar, Tiger Triumph, and Cope India, he stated, continue to bolster interoperability between the two military forces. “These three fundamental elements — diplomacy, military exercises, and arms sales — guarantee a robust and sustained defence partnership,” Gor expressed, confident in the potential for further strengthening ties.

“My vision is to elevate the US-India relationship into the defining strategic partnership of the 21st century, one that yields tangible advantages for both our nations,” he asserted.

“I want the beneficial results of our partnership to be experienced by everyday citizens — American farmers increasing their sales in Indian markets, collaborative research breakthroughs in energy and healthcare, and the seamless operation of both nations’ armed forces to ensure a secure and stable Indo-Pacific,” he added.

“The US-India relationship is founded on shared democratic principles, collective prosperity, and mutual security interests that will influence the global landscape for generations to come,” Gor stated.

On the economic front, Gor emphasized the potential for increased bilateral trade, citing India’s expanding infrastructure requirements and alignment with US capabilities in sectors such as energy, aviation, and advanced manufacturing. “In simple terms, we have a mutually beneficial scenario before us,” he noted.

He also pointed to the growing collaboration in securing essential supply chains. Initiatives like the US-India COMPACT framework and the Pax Silica Declaration are designed to enhance resilience in semiconductors, critical minerals, and pharmaceuticals while reducing reliance on single-source suppliers.

Artificial intelligence is emerging as another significant area for cooperation. Reflecting on the recent AI Impact Summit held in New Delhi, Gor mentioned witnessing “first-hand the limitless possibilities” of US-India collaboration in this domain. He cautioned against centralized global regulation, asserting, “The solution is certainly not to have a global governance board based out of the UN dictate the applications of AI.”
