Washington, April 8 (NationPress) US Ambassador to India Sergio Gor engaged in a pivotal meeting with US President Donald Trump in Washington, focusing on the promising outlook of India-US relations. Gor emphasized the American President’s steadfast commitment to fostering global stability.

Gor took to X to share insights from their dinner, where he remarked, "Just had an incredible dinner with President Trump. We discussed his unwavering commitment to global stability, the remarkable accomplishments of his presidency, the bright future of India-US relations, and much more! A truly unforgettable evening as history unfolded before our eyes."

Shortly after this, Trump announced a two-week halt on planned military actions against Iran, while Tehran expressed a willingness to consider reopening the strategically important Strait of Hormuz, hinting at a potential de-escalation of tensions.

In another meeting, Gor connected with US Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick to deliberate on enhancing the commercial ties between India and the United States, including strategies to broaden access to a significant consumer market.

On social media, Gor commented, "Had a fruitful meeting with Secretary Howard Lutnick regarding the US-India commercial roadmap. We discussed a new MoU aimed at linking India’s burgeoning artificial intelligence sector with the American AI ecosystem, Indian involvement in the forthcoming Select USA Summit, and the increasing investments from Indian pharmaceuticals in the US to enhance competition and fortify supply chains."

The discussions also addressed a proposed Memorandum of Understanding designed to integrate India’s expanding capabilities in artificial intelligence with the technological landscape of the US, reflecting a growing synergy in emerging sectors.

The US Department of Commerce later announced that Lutnick and Gor are collaborating to advance a broader trade framework between the two nations.

"Today, Secretary Lutnick met with US Ambassador to India Sergio Gor, making strides towards President Trump's historic US-India trade agreement," the department noted in a post on X.

"Together, we are working to unlock a market of 1.4 billion people for American products and secure over USD 500 billion in US exports," it further highlighted, showcasing the ambition and scale of the ongoing economic partnership.

Earlier in the day, Gor also had a meeting with US Vice President J.D. Vance.

Meanwhile, Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri arrived in Washington late Tuesday to assess the full scope of India-US relations and enhance cooperation across key sectors.
