New Delhi/Washington, Feb 2 (NationPress) The US Ambassador to India, Sergio Gor, on Monday praised the growing collaboration between Washington and New Delhi, emphasizing that the partnership between the United States and India possesses limitless potential.
Gor made this statement shortly after US President Donald Trump had a conversation with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, just a day before External Affairs Minister (EAM) S. Jaishankar embarks on a trip to the United States.
“As I have expressed multiple times, President Trump regards Prime Minister Modi as a close friend! I am excited about the news of the trade agreement announced this evening. Gor was the first to reveal that Trump and PM Modi had spoken over the phone earlier that evening.

Trump noted that the two leaders covered a range of topics, including trade and the ongoing conflict in Ukraine. He claimed PM Modi agreed to cease purchasing Russian oil and enhance imports from the United States and possibly from Venezuela.
“This will assist in ENDING THE WAR in Ukraine, which is currently resulting in countless deaths every week!” Trump asserted.
According to Trump, the trade agreement would be effective immediately. He stated that India would “advance towards eliminating their tariffs and non-tariff barriers against the United States, to ZERO.”
Trump also mentioned that PM Modi committed to “BUY AMERICAN” at a much higher scale. He added that India would procure “over $500 BILLION of US energy, technology, agricultural products, coal, and numerous other goods.”
