On April 7, in Washington, U.S. Ambassador to India Sergio Gor engaged with Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick to strengthen the bilateral trade and technology relationship. This meeting precedes a planned dinner at the White House with President Donald Trump, highlighting renewed energy in the U.S.-India alliance.

Gor expressed that it was a fruitful discussion regarding the U.S.-India commercial roadmap. He highlighted key topics such as a new memorandum of understanding that aims to link India's AI capabilities with the U.S. AI ecosystem, significant Indian participation in the upcoming SelectUSA Summit, and increasing Indian investments in the U.S. pharmaceutical sector to enhance competition and fortify supply chains.

The White House confirmed that the President will be attending a closed press dinner with the U.S. Ambassador to India.

This diplomatic engagement signifies the growing collaboration between Washington and New Delhi, expanding their focus beyond security to include emerging technologies, investments, and the resilience of supply chains.

During his meetings with senior U.S. officials, including FBI Director Kash Patel, Gor underscored the importance of security cooperation. He mentioned having a productive conversation aimed at tackling transnational threats such as cybercrime, drug trafficking, and illegal networks.

Gor noted a strong alignment on security issues, commending Patel for his exemplary leadership at the FBI. He cited recent achievements in law enforcement: "In 2025: a 112% increase in violent crime arrests year-on-year alongside a 20% reduction in homicides and robberies!"

He also emphasized the political aspect of U.S.-India relations following his meeting with Vice President JD Vance. Gor expressed gratitude for the Vice President's leadership and dedication to the U.S.-India partnership.
