Manila, Nov 30 (NationPress) The team aboard the Indian Naval Ship (INS) Sahyadri engaged in a collaborative yoga session with personnel from the Philippine Navy in Manila on Sunday.
According to a statement released on X, the spokesperson for the Indian Navy remarked, "During the port call at Manila, Philippines, the crew of INS Sahyadri arranged a joint Yoga session with the Philippine Navy, advocating for health, mindfulness, and embodying India's message of Wellness, Unity, and Harmony."
On November 27, INS Sahyadri docked in Manila as part of its mission in the Indo-Pacific region. The ship was received warmly, following a successful Passage Exercise (PASSEX) with the Philippine Navy.
“A hearty welcome to INS Sahyadri upon its arrival in Manila! Following a successful PASSEX with the Philippine Navy, this harbour visit will involve professionally enriching interactions and collaborations with the Philippine Navy and Coast Guard on mutual interests, strengthening our maritime partnership and longstanding friendship,” stated the Embassy of India in the Philippines on X.
INS Sahyadri, a Guided Missile Stealth Frigate, is an indigenously designed and built vessel that exemplifies the vision of 'Aatmanirbhar Bharat'.
During the joint exercise, both Indian and Philippine naval forces conducted tactical communication drills, navigation maneuvers, Visit Board Search and Seizure (VBSS) drills, and air operations, enhancing professional synergy and mutual comprehension, as per the Ministry of Defence's announcement.
The harbour phase will also feature cross-deck visits and Subject Matter Expert Exchanges. Additional cultural activities such as friendly sports, joint yoga sessions, and support for an orphanage are also part of the visit.
The ship is currently on a mission in the Indo-Pacific, taking part in various multilateral and bilateral naval exercises with allied nations, including MALABAR-2025, AUSINDEX-2025, JAIMEX-25, and a first-time bilateral exercise with the Republic of Korea Navy.
In its statement, the Ministry of Defence emphasized, "The visit of INS Sahyadri highlights India's dedication to strengthening relationships with the Philippines and showcases the increasing cooperation between the two navies in the maritime sphere. This is a significant step towards fostering peace, security, and stability in the crucial Indo-Pacific region, in alignment with India’s Act East Policy and the vision of SAGAR (Security and Growth for All in the Region)."
