Colombo, Nov 26 (NationPress) The Indian Navy's homegrown aircraft carrier INS Vikrant docked at Colombo Harbour on Wednesday, following an invitation from the Sri Lanka Navy to participate in the forthcoming International Fleet Review 2025 (IFR).

Celebrating its 75th anniversary, the Sri Lanka Navy is organizing this fleet review, which aims to unite naval vessels from various nations—an event designed to highlight Colombo's desire to enhance its influence in regional maritime diplomacy.

This visit symbolizes the enduring goodwill between India and Sri Lanka, reinforcing mutual trust and collaboration.

The Indian High Commission in Colombo states that INS Vikrant, emblematic of national pride and 'Make in India excellence', signifies India's resurgence in maritime strength.

Designed by the Indian Navy's Warship Design Bureau and constructed by Cochin Shipyard Limited (CSL), this aircraft carrier is the largest warship ever built in the country. Commissioned into the Indian Navy by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on September 2, 2022, INS Vikrant stands as a testament to indigenous potential, resources, and skills.

Since its commissioning, INS Vikrant has solidified its role as a cornerstone of the nation’s maritime strength.
