Tehran, June 22 (NationPress) The Ministry of Roads and Urban Development of Iran has declared an extension of the suspension of all flights to and from the nation until 14:00 local time on Sunday (1030 GMT), according to the semi-official Tasnim news agency.
The airspace restrictions will remain in effect to guarantee the safety of passengers and flights, unless the situation in the country stabilizes, as stated by Majid Akhavan, the ministry's spokesperson.
This closure of airspace was initiated in response to Israeli airstrikes that commenced on June 13, targeting the Iranian capital, Tehran, and other regions, as reported by Xinhua.
The Israeli attacks have resulted in the deaths of several high-ranking military officials and nuclear specialists. In retaliation, Iran has executed missile and drone strikes against multiple locations in Israel, inflicting casualties and significant damage. This conflict has persisted into Saturday.
Moreover, the ongoing Israeli assaults on Iran over the last nine days have resulted in the deaths of over 400 Iranians and left 3,056 others injured, as stated by Hossein Kermanpour, head of the public relations department of the Iranian Health Ministry.
“Of the injured, 2,220 have received treatment and been discharged from health facilities, while 232 were treated at the attack sites,” Kermanpour mentioned in a post on the social media platform X.
According to this health official, most of the casualties are civilians, which include 54 women and children who lost their lives due to the Israeli strikes.
