Tehran, Aug 4 (NationPress) Iran is open to evaluating any proposal aimed at resolving its nuclear concerns, provided it can assure the preservation of the nation’s uranium enrichment rights on Iranian territory, stated Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei on Monday.
"Our stance has consistently emphasized that uranium enrichment in Iran is an integral aspect of our rights under the Non-Proliferation Treaty, making it critically significant. Therefore, any proposal that can secure this vital element will warrant our consideration," Baghaei remarked during a weekly press briefing.
He noted that the dynamics surrounding possible Iran-US discussions have significantly altered, highlighting key topics including "holding the United States accountable and seeking reparations for the military aggression against Iran’s peaceful nuclear assets," as reported by Xinhua.
On June 13, Israel executed major airstrikes in various regions of Iran, targeting nuclear and military installations, followed by US strikes on three Iranian nuclear facilities on June 22. A ceasefire between Iran and Israel was established on June 24 after 12 days of hostilities.
Recently, Washington has persistently insisted that Iran must halt all uranium enrichment, a demand that Tehran has resolutely dismissed.
On Sunday, Iran's Supreme National Security Council (SNSC) sanctioned the formation of the nation’s defense council, chaired by President Masoud Pezeshkian, as reported by SNSC-affiliated Nour News.
The defense council will oversee the centralized review of the country’s defense strategies and the enhancement of the capabilities of the Iranian armed forces.
The council includes leaders from the three branches of the Iranian government: executive, legislative, and judiciary, alongside commanders of the armed forces and representatives from various ministries.
In a recent post on the social media platform X, Nour News indicated, "With the groundwork laid and structural reforms in progress, there is an increased likelihood of imminent changes within certain high-ranking security institutions of the country."
