Tel Aviv, Oct 2 (NationPress) The Israeli Foreign Ministry announced on Thursday that none of the vessels associated with the Gaza-bound Global Sumud Flotilla have managed to enter an active combat zone or breach Israel's legitimate naval blockade.
Reiterating the flotilla's alleged connections to Hamas, the Ministry stated on X, "The Hamas-Sumud provocation has concluded. None of the yachts linked to Hamas-Sumud has succeeded in entering an active combat zone or breaching the lawful naval blockade."
The Ministry confirmed that all passengers remain safe and healthy. They are currently making their way to Israel, from where they will be deported to Europe.
"One final vessel from this provocation remains at a distance. Should it approach, its attempt to enter an active combat zone and breach the blockade will also be thwarted," the Ministry added.
The Global Sumud Flotilla, consisting of around 50 civilian vessels and participants from over 40 nations, seeks to challenge Israel's naval blockade established since 2007 and provide food and medical aid to Palestinians.
Earlier in the day, the Ministry posted videos on its social media platform, confirming that several vessels of the "Hamas-Sumud flotilla" have been successfully intercepted and their passengers, including Swedish climate activist Greta Thunberg and her companions, are being safely transported to an Israeli port, where they are reported to be in good health.
The Israeli Foreign Ministry emphasized that the primary aim of the "Hamas-Sumud flotilla" is provocation. They noted that Israel, along with Italy, Greece, and the Latin Patriarchate of Jerusalem, has extended offers to facilitate the peaceful delivery of any aid to Gaza, but the flotilla has declined these offers, as their intent appears to be provocation rather than aid delivery.
The Israeli Navy has reached out to the Hamas-Sumud flotilla, urging them to alter their course, informing them they are nearing an active combat zone and violating a lawful naval blockade. Israel reiterated its offer to allow any aid to be transferred safely via established channels to Gaza.
On Tuesday, Israel's Foreign Ministry claimed that documents recovered from Hamas in the Gaza Strip indicated the terror group's direct involvement in financing and organizing the 'Sumud' flotilla directed towards Gaza.
The Ministry released portions of these Hamas documents along with translations and images showing some of the flotilla's organizers alongside senior Hamas figures.
