Jerusalem, May 23 (NationPress) The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) have made an urgent appeal for individuals residing in the northern Gaza Strip to evacuate as a significant escalation of military actions is anticipated.

The evacuation directive issued on Thursday encompasses the regions of Beit Lahia, Jabalia, the Jabalia refugee camp, and northern sectors of Gaza City—areas that have recently experienced intense airstrikes, resulting in numerous casualties and displacing residents for the third time or more, according to Xinhua news agency.

"The IDF is set to markedly broaden its military operations in your locations," stated Avichay Adraee, the IDF spokesman, in a post on X, asserting that militants are active in the specified regions.

"The places you inhabit are deemed perilous combat zones... For your safety, evacuate immediately to the south," he added.

Israel has dismissed global calls for a ceasefire and negotiations for a hostage release with Hamas.

On Saturday, it initiated Operation Gideon's Chariots, significantly amplifying its 19-month military campaign.

Israeli officials indicated that the goal is to defeat Hamas and ensure the return of 58 hostages taken in Gaza.

This operation aims to take control of the entire Gaza Strip, enforce military dominance over the territory, and push the population southward, as stated by Israeli sources.

The death toll among Palestinians has climbed to 53,655 since October 2023, per Gaza health authorities.

The Israeli military on May 19 instructed residents of Khan Younis to evacuate in preparation for what it describes as a major offensive in southern Gaza.

The IDF advised civilians to head towards al-Mawasi, a coastal region in western Gaza, warning that Khan Younis and nearby areas would soon transform into a "dangerous combat zone."

In a statement, IDF spokesperson Avichay Adraee remarked, "Terrorist organizations have caused you calamity. For your safety, evacuate without delay."

This order, one of the most extensive in recent months, also includes Bani Suhaila and Abasan.

The offensive is part of what the IDF has designated Operation Gideon's Chariots, which commenced on May 17.

According to health facilities in Gaza, over 100 individuals have perished in the last 24 hours.
