Jerusalem, April 11 (NationPress) The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) announced an urgent evacuation directive for inhabitants in various neighborhoods of eastern Gaza City as military operations escalated in the vicinity.

In a communication shared on social media X, IDF Arabic-language spokesperson Avichay Adraee urged civilians to relocate westward for their safety.

"The IDF is conducting intensive operations in your areas to dismantle terrorist infrastructure," he stated, as reported by Xinhua news agency. "For your safety, you must evacuate immediately to the designated shelter centers in western Gaza City," he emphasized.

In addition, the IDF confirmed in a statement that it had eliminated Hamas militant Ahmad Iyad Muhammad Farhat during a recent operation in the Tel al-Sultan refugee camp located in Rafah, southern Gaza Strip.

As per the IDF, Farhat was the leader of sniper operations for Hamas' Tel al-Sultan Battalion and was accountable for organizing and executing attacks against Israeli forces.

The IDF also reported further operations since Thursday throughout the southern and northern regions of Gaza Strip, where numerous Hamas militants were neutralized.

The military indicated that it had deconstructed Hamas' military infrastructure and rendered booby-trapped buildings safe during these operations.

On Thursday, the IDF and the Israeli Security Agency released a joint statement confirming the death of the commander of Hamas' Shejaiya Battalion in Gaza.

The statement revealed that commander Haitham Razek Abd al-Karim Sheikh Khalil was killed in a strike against a command and control center located approximately one kilometer from IDF troops engaged in Gaza City.

The statement asserted that "multiple Hamas terrorists operated from within the command center to plan and execute terrorist attacks against Israeli civilians and IDF soldiers."

According to the IDF, Khalil was responsible for the infiltration into Israel's Kibbutz Nahal Oz and participated in the attack on southern Israel on October 7, 2023. In recent years, he held the position of platoon commander in the battalion and directed Hamas' tunnel operations. He took command of the Shejaiya Battalion following the removal of previous commanders Jamil Wadia and Fahim Farhat.
