Ramallah, March 15 (NationPress) Early Sunday morning, Israeli special forces opened fire on a vehicle in Tammun, located in the West Bank, resulting in the deaths of four Palestinians, including two minors, according to the Palestine Red Crescent Society.

The Red Crescent reported in a statement that their teams retrieved the bodies from the vehicle, which had been struck by gunfire.

Local sources indicated that the deceased were members of the same family.

Reports suggest that the Israeli special forces were pursuing two young men in one of Tammun's neighborhoods prior to the shooting incident.

No immediate response has been provided by the Israeli army regarding this event.

Tammun and surrounding areas, including the city of Tubas, have been experiencing frequent raids conducted by Israeli forces.

Israel typically characterizes these operations in the West Bank as “counter-terrorism measures” aimed at individuals linked to Palestinian militant groups.

The Palestinian Red Crescent reported that Ali and Waed Odeh, along with two of their four children, suffered gunshot wounds to the head.

The surviving children were treated for shrapnel injuries after first responders were allowed access, with the organization accusing Israel of delaying ambulance services to the scene.

In a joint statement issued on Sunday, Israel's military and police claimed that fire was exchanged after a vehicle accelerated towards them in Tammun.

They stated that the forces were in pursuit of suspects linked to “terrorist activities” and that the incident is currently under investigation.

This casualty count is lower than that recorded at the same point in 2025, a year marked by significant violence that escalated following Israel's invasion of northern West Bank cities, which were deemed militant strongholds. Israeli forces continue to maintain a presence in these areas.

The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs has noted 18 Palestinians killed in the West Bank since the start of 2026, eight of whom were reportedly killed by Israeli settlers.

Despite a ceasefire that commenced in October, Israel has conducted sporadic airstrikes and drone operations in western Gaza outside its military perimeter.

Palestinian reports indicate that approximately 660 Palestinians have died and over 1,700 have been injured during the ceasefire period due to shootings or airstrikes.

Overall, Palestinian authorities claim that more than 72,200 individuals in Gaza have been killed and around 171,800 injured in Israeli assaults since the initiation of their offensive following the October 7, 2023, attack by Hamas-led militants on Israeli territory.

This attack resulted in nearly 1,200 fatalities.

Israeli strikes on Gaza diminished at the onset of the conflict with Iran that began in late February but have escalated once again.
