Beirut, Jan 17 (NationPress) The visiting Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi conveyed Jordan's strong desire to enhance bilateral relations with Lebanon and extended an invitation to the newly elected Lebanese President Joseph Aoun to visit Jordan.
"This visit represents a significant opportunity to elevate the cooperation levels between our two nations and to address various issues of mutual interest," stated Safadi during a press conference on Thursday after his meeting with Aoun in Beirut, according to the Xinhua news agency.
Safadi expressed, "I take immense pride in the robust brotherly ties that unite our two nations, and I reaffirm our commitment to strengthening these connections across diverse sectors."
He emphasized Jordan's unwavering support for Lebanon during this critical period. Optimistically, he noted that Lebanon is poised to embark on a new chapter, moving towards restoring its security and stability while initiating the reconstruction process.
"Our stance in the Kingdom remains unchanged; we stand firmly by Lebanon's security, stability, and sovereignty," he remarked.
Safadi highlighted that Jordan's backing for the Lebanese army is ongoing, stating, "We have provided extensive support in the past and will continue to do so."
The Jordanian minister noted that once a new Lebanese government is established, ministers from both countries will collaborate to enhance relations across various domains.
"Ministers will explore ways to activate bilateral cooperation. We have already initiated discussions about Jordan supplying electricity to Lebanon, which is still in progress, and we anticipate much more collaboration," he added.
