Jordan Reiterates Support for Syria's Journey Toward Stability

Amman, Dec 9 (NationPress) Jordan's Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi on Monday reiterated his nation's dedication to Syria's initiatives aimed at achieving security and stability.

As stated by the foreign ministry, Safadi mentioned in a discourse at the Parliament that Jordan endorses Syria in initiating a comprehensive political dialogue where the Syrian people can determine their own destiny and future.

He called for unified Arab efforts in this matter, emphasizing Jordan's willingness to provide essential humanitarian assistance to the Syrian populace, according to the statement.

Safadi also criticized Israel's appropriation of the buffer zone adjacent to Syria, highlighting it as a breach of international law and an infringement on Syria's sovereignty, as reported by Xinhua news agency.

Maintaining Syria's state institutions is crucial to avert the nation from descending into chaos, he further stated.

The Israeli army has taken control of areas near the Israel-Syria border and targeted strategic assets in Syria as of Monday, according to reports from Syrian and Israeli sources.

In a video announcement released by his office on Sunday, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu declared that he had instructed the military to temporarily seize the positions to ensure they do not come under the control of militant groups led by Hayat Tahrir al-Sham, whose extensive offensive across Syria since Nov. 27 led to the swift collapse of President Bashar al-Assad's government on Sunday.
