Amman, Jan 15 (NationPress) Jordan's Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi highlighted the shared stance of Jordan and Denmark in advocating for initiatives aimed at achieving a cessation of the aggression against Gaza.

These comments were made during a joint press briefing in Amman after discussions with Danish Foreign Minister Lars Lokke Rasmussen, as reported by the ministry.

Safadi stated that current initiatives should culminate in a consensus that addresses the humanitarian crisis engendered by the conflict, ensuring that sufficient, practical, and immediate aid reaches Gaza.

He also underscored the need to uphold the Palestinians' right to establish an independent state with sovereignty over the 1967 boundaries, including East Jerusalem as its capital, in accordance with the two-state solution.

The dialogue between the two ministers also encompassed the situation in Syria, where they agreed on the need to support a comprehensive transitional process aimed at rebuilding a free, sovereign, and independent Syria, ensuring security, stability, and the full rights of all Syrians, as reported by Xinhua news agency.

Safadi noted that the threat from the Islamic State persists and confirmed that Jordan is in coordination with the new Syrian administration to mitigate this danger.

The Danish minister commended the robust relationship between Denmark and Jordan, expressing a desire for continued collaboration on regional matters.

Rasmussen remarked, "Jordan has been and continues to be a stable partner and a pillar of stability in the region," showing support for Syria's transition.

He reiterated Denmark's demand for a ceasefire in Gaza, hoping for a sustainable and immediate agreement that would enhance access to humanitarian assistance for the area.

Rasmussen emphasized that the two-state solution remains the only viable path to achieving lasting peace in the region.
