Amman, March 21 (NationPress) The Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi emphasized the critical necessity for a ceasefire in Gaza, advocating for prompt international action to cease Israel's military activities and to reopen border crossings for humanitarian assistance.

During conversations with various foreign counterparts on Thursday, Safadi cautioned about the dire repercussions of Israel resuming its military actions in Gaza and obstructing humanitarian aid delivery. He highlighted the imperative for an immediate and enduring ceasefire while condemning the resurgence of hostilities and the weaponization of food, as stated by the ministry.

The discussions also focused on regional and international efforts aimed at facilitating aid access and reducing tensions. Safadi warned against Israel's unlawful actions in the West Bank, cautioning that they could further destabilize the region, according to reports from the Xinhua news agency.

He engaged in talks with several foreign ministers, including Ahmed Attaf from Algeria, Badr Abdelatty from Egypt, Georg Georgiev from Bulgaria, Tanja Fajon, Slovenia’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, and Beate Meinl-Reisinger, Austria's newly appointed Foreign Minister.

In his dialogue with the Bulgarian foreign minister, Safadi condemned the killing of a Bulgarian national employed by the United Nations Office for Project Services during an Israeli strike on the UN office two days prior.

He offered Jordan’s condolences and urged Israel to guarantee the safety of international organizations and their personnel in Gaza.

Earlier on Wednesday, reports indicated that at least 16 Palestinians lost their lives and over 30 were injured in an Israeli airstrike targeting a crowd of mourners in northern Gaza, as per the Gaza health authorities.

The strike occurred in the Salatin area of Beit Lahia during a memorial for the victims of previous Israeli attacks, as reported by the Palestinian news agency WAFA and Xinhua. Israel’s military has not yet commented on the incident.
