Seoul, Feb 9 (NationPress) North Korean leader Kim Jong-un has charged the United States with being the source of global disputes, reaffirming the nation's commitment to advance its nuclear capabilities, as reported by state media on Sunday.

During his recent visit to the Ministry of National Defence to commemorate the 77th anniversary of the Korean People's Army, Kim's statements were documented by Yonhap, citing the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA).

In an address to military and political leaders, Kim outlined new strategies to enhance deterrence and reiterated the country's steadfast policy to further develop its nuclear arsenal. KCNA did not disclose specific details about these strategies.

He claimed that the US nuclear assets stationed on the Korean Peninsula, US-led nuclear war simulations, and the military cooperation among the US, Japan, and South Korea are contributing to a military imbalance in the region, creating a new conflicting situation, and presenting a serious challenge to North Korea.

Kim stated that North Korea does not desire unnecessary tensions in the area but will implement ongoing countermeasures to maintain regional military equilibrium to avert a new conflict and safeguard peace and security on the peninsula.

He further accused the US of consistently fueling conflicts around the world, asserting that this validates the regime's pursuit of an unlimited defense capability as entirely justified.

Kim also criticized the US for the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war, expressing deep concern that the US and its allies are extending the conflict with unrealistic ambitions to undermine Russia strategically, as reported by KCNA.

The North Korean leader declared that the army and citizens of North Korea will continuously support the noble cause of the Russian army and its people in their efforts to defend their sovereignty and territorial integrity, referencing the mutual defense agreement he established with Russian President Vladimir Putin last year.

In another report, KCNA condemned the joint military exercises between South Korea and the US conducted this year, alleging they are escalating tensions.

The KCNA stated, "Hostile and risky actions will only lead to undesired outcomes," without clarifying what those outcomes might entail.

North Korea has consistently criticized these joint military drills as preparations for invasion, while South Korea and the US assert that their exercises are defensive.
