Sydney, April 17 (NationPress) — Authorities are currently looking into an incident where a man was hospitalized after an attack involving a stabbing in southwest Sydney, while a teenage suspect has been charged in connection with a different stabbing that took place on Tuesday.

The New South Wales (NSW) police stated on Friday that emergency services responded to a call regarding a welfare concern in Kingsgrove, located 13 km southwest of central Sydney, around 11:50 PM on Thursday. Upon arrival, they discovered a man suffering from stab wounds to his shoulder.

Reports indicate that the 44-year-old victim had halted his vehicle when two unidentified individuals approached and stabbed him before escaping on motorcycles, as reported by Xinhua News Agency.

The man received treatment from ambulance paramedics and was transported to the hospital in a stable condition, while police proceeded to establish a crime scene and initiate an investigation.

In a separate announcement, NSW Police revealed on Thursday night that a 15-year-old boy has been taken into custody and charged in relation to a machete attack during a light rail service on Tuesday night.

It is alleged that the 15-year-old was among two boys who assaulted another boy, also aged 15, during the incident in central Sydney.

The 15-year-old victim was hospitalized in a stable condition with a stab wound to his left arm.

The alleged attacker was apprehended by police at a residence in Sydney's inner-west on Thursday morning and charged with wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm. Authorities are actively searching for the second suspect.

Earlier this year, in February, a stabbing incident in western Sydney resulted in one fatality and two individuals being hospitalized with critical injuries.

Emergency services responded to this stabbing on a main street in the Merrylands suburb, which is located 20 km west of central Sydney, around 10 AM local time on February 17.

Police arrived on the scene and were informed that a man had stabbed multiple individuals before fleeing on foot.

Three victims with severe injuries were treated by ambulance personnel; unfortunately, one succumbed to injuries at the scene, while the others were rushed to the hospital in critical condition.

A crime scene was established, and shortly thereafter, one suspect was arrested nearby following an extensive search.

The NSW Police Force has urged anyone with information regarding the incident to reach out to detectives.
