Tianjin, Aug 31 (NationPress) Prime Minister Narendra Modi engaged in discussions with Chinese President Xi Jinping in Tianjin on Sunday during the two-day Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) summit, marking their first meeting in ten months.
The purpose of this meeting is to enhance bilateral relations and build upon the recent strides made in India-China relations. This interaction takes place amid US tariff threats.
The previous interaction between the leaders occurred at the BRICS Summit in Kazan, Russia, in 2024.
A significant breakthrough in dialogue was achieved after both nations reached an agreement on patrolling protocols along the 3,500-km-long Line of Actual Control (LAC), effectively alleviating a four-year border standoff.
PM Modi arrived in Tianjin on Saturday afternoon and received a vibrant welcome upon his arrival at the Binhai International Airport.

It is also what developing countries aspire to see."
Earlier this week, PM Modi, in an interview with Japan's The Yomiuri Shimbun, emphasized India's willingness to advance ties with China based on mutual respect, interest, and sensitivity.
He noted that since his meeting with Xi Jinping in Kazan last year, bilateral relations have exhibited steady and positive progress.
When asked about the importance of enhancing ties with Beijing, PM Modi remarked, "At the invitation of President Xi Jinping, I would be traveling to Tianjin to participate in the SCO Summit. Since my meeting with President Xi in Kazan last year, there has been steady and positive progress in our bilateral relations."
"Stable, predictable, and amicable bilateral relations between India and China, as two neighbors and the two largest nations on earth, can positively impact regional and global peace and prosperity. This is also crucial for a multi-polar Asia and a multi-polar world," he added.
