Ulan Bator, March 7 (NationPress) The President of Mongolia, Ukhnaa Khurelsukh, conveyed his warm wishes to women during a ceremony held to recognize mothers who have been honored with the 'Order of Maternal Glory' just before International Women's Day on Saturday.

"I wish to express my heartfelt appreciation to all mothers and women. May their homes resonate with love, laughter, and happiness, and may their children lead joyful and prosperous lives," stated Khurelsukh.

The president emphasized that mothers invest their hearts and love in nurturing their children and guiding them to become educated and patriotic citizens of Mongolia. This commitment significantly contributes to the country's advancement and growth.

Statistics indicate that there are approximately 1.8 million women in Mongolia, with the total population exceeding 3.5 million. About 70.2 percent of Mongolian women reside in urban settings, while 29.8 percent live in rural areas.

The average lifespan of Mongolian women is reported to be 76 years.

The Order of Maternal Glory was instituted in 1957, awarded to mothers who have given birth to four or more children and ensured their well-being, education, and holistic development, as reported by the Xinhua news agency.

This year, 11,294 mothers nationwide received this prestigious award.

International Women's Day (IWD), celebrated on March 8, recognizes the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women and serves as a call to action for enhancing women's equality.

IWD has been celebrated for over a century, with its first gathering in 1911 drawing support from over a million participants.
