Montenegro's Court Denies Do Kwon's Extradition Appeal

Rome, Dec 25 (NationPress) The Constitutional Court of Montenegro has rejected an appeal filed by South Korean crypto entrepreneur Do Kwon concerning a ruling on his extradition, as reported by local sources.
In a unanimous ruling, the court dismissed Kwon's appeal, citing various legal issues, per the Montenegro daily Vijesti.
The recent decision means that the justice minister of Montenegro will determine whether Kwon will be tried in his home country or in the United States, as reported by the Yonhap News Agency.
Given the current stance of the justice ministry, it appears more probable that Kwon will be extradited to the U.S.
Kwon, who co-founded the cryptocurrency company Terraform Labs, is being sought by both South Korea and the U.S. on charges related to the collapse of the firm's TerraUSD and Luna cryptocurrencies in May 2022.
He was apprehended in Montenegro in March of last year while using a counterfeit passport.
In August of this year, Montenegro's highest court delayed a prior decision regarding Kwon's extradition to South Korea in relation to the significant cryptocurrency crash.
Earlier, a Montenegrin appeals court upheld a lower court's decision to extradite Kwon to South Korea, denying a request for his extradition to the U.S.
However, the Supreme Court later announced via its website that Kwon's extradition to South Korea has been postponed while awaiting a decision on a legal request from prosecutors.
The co-founder of Terraform Labs, Kwon, is wanted by both South Korea and the U.S.
The disgraced entrepreneur faces allegations of fraud and other charges linked to the collapse of TerraUSD and Luna in 2022, which caused significant losses for investors globally.
