Rabat, Jan 18 (NationPress) The government of Morocco has expressed its approval of the ceasefire agreement in Gaza. The Moroccan Foreign Ministry stated on Friday that there is optimism for the full adherence to this deal.

"The Kingdom of Morocco is pleased with the advancements made in ceasing the hostilities and assaults on civilians that have persisted since October 7, 2023," the ministry articulated in a statement.

The Moroccan government urged all Palestinian and Israeli factions to embrace peace and exhibit a genuine and constructive dedication, as reported by the Xinhua news agency.

More than a year after the outbreak of the Gaza conflict, which resulted in significant turmoil and destruction throughout the Middle East, a pivotal agreement was established between Israel and Hamas. Both parties allegedly consented to cease hostilities and facilitate the exchange of Israeli hostages for Palestinian prisoners.

US President Joe Biden acknowledged this significant development earlier on Wednesday during a briefing, stating, "it is a very good afternoon now" and adding, "Soon, the hostages will return home to their families."

The peace accord entails a comprehensive ceasefire alongside the withdrawal of Israeli military forces from Gaza and the release of all hostages held by Hamas, according to the BBC.

Earlier that day, the Israeli government approved a ceasefire agreement aimed at securing the release of hostages in the Gaza Strip, following a protracted cabinet meeting, as stated by the Prime Minister's Office.

“The Government has sanctioned the framework for the return of the hostages. This framework will commence on Sunday,” a statement from Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's office declared.

At the meeting, 24 ministers voted in favor while eight opposed. The agreement is projected to take effect on Sunday, as indicated in the statement.
