Kathmandu, April 26 (NationPress) Large-scale protests took place in Nepal on Saturday, notably outside the Pakistani Embassy in Kathmandu, denouncing the terrorism backed by Pakistan in India in light of the horrific Pahalgam terror attack earlier this week, which claimed the lives of 26 innocent civilians, including a Nepali citizen, Sudeep Neupane.
A number of Nepali civil society organizations and political party members, including leaders from the Rastriya Prajatantra Party, took part in the demonstration against the fatal attack executed by four terrorists, two of whom hailed from Pakistan.
Protesters carried numerous banners proclaiming "Justice for Sudeep Neupane" while chanting slogans condemning Pakistan and striking the image of Pakistani Army General Asim Munir with shoes and slippers.
In addition, the Embassy of India in Kathmandu convened a condolence meeting on Saturday for the victims of the tragic attack.
The ceremony was graced by prominent Nepali dignitaries, including Foreign Minister Arzu Rana Deuba, Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Paudel, along with several Members of Parliament.
Various friends of India in Nepal and members of the Indian community also attended the solemn event to honor the victims.
"Foreign Minister Deuba strongly condemned the terrorist incident and highlighted the united resolve of India and Nepal to confront and eliminate the scourge of terrorism. Deputy PM & Finance Minister Paudel also condemned the savage attack in Pahalgam and reiterated Nepal's unwavering stance against terrorism," stated the Embassy of India in Kathmandu via a post on X.
Deuba expressed appreciation to the Government of India for their prompt assistance in the immediate repatriation of Sudeep Neupane's remains. Offering heartfelt condolences for the lives lost, she emphasized that as a trusted neighbor and long-standing ally, Nepal stands firmly by India in its battle against terrorism.
Prime Minister K P Sharma Oli reached out to PM Narendra Modi on Wednesday to vehemently denounce the despicable attack in Anantnag district of Jammu and Kashmir.
Oli branded the terror attack as "heinous" and discussed the matter extensively with Prime Minister Modi.
PM Modi also conveyed his condolences regarding the loss of a young Nepali citizen in the attack, emphasizing India's commitment to bringing the culprits of this brutal act to justice.
