Kathmandu, Dec 16 (NationPress) Two health post facilities are set to be developed in the Indrawati Rural Municipality of central Sindhupalchowk district, thanks to the financial support from India, as announced by the Indian Embassy in Nepal on Tuesday.
Jhamka Nath Nepal, the Chairperson of the Rural Municipality, along with Narayan Singh, First Secretary of the Indian Embassy, officially inaugurated the construction by laying the foundation stones for the health posts located in Ward No. 3 and Ward No. 6 of the municipality. The total financial aid for the project amounts to approximately NPR 40 million. Each health post will feature a two-storey structure equipped with essential amenities.
According to the Embassy's press release, these initiatives are classified under High Impact Community Development Projects (HICDPs), with the rural municipality entrusted with their execution.
The HICDPs are funded at the grassroots level through local authorities, focusing on priority sectors identified by the Government of Nepal, such as health, education, drinking water, sanitation, and rural electrification, among others.
Previously known as Small Development Projects, the HICDPs commenced in November 2003 following a bilateral agreement between the Governments of Nepal and India for India's grant assistance in implementing these projects through local Nepali entities.
These initiatives represent a crucial aspect of the development partnership between India and Nepal, aimed at building infrastructure that significantly improves the quality of life for the citizens of Nepal at the grassroots level.
During the foundation-laying ceremony, Chairperson Nepal and other involved parties acknowledged the developmental support from the Indian government, expressing optimism that the new healthcare infrastructure would broaden access to medical services in the area.
The Embassy emphasized that as neighboring countries, India and Nepal are engaged in extensive multi-sectoral cooperation. The execution of HICDPs illustrates India's ongoing commitment to supporting Nepal's growth and development, alongside enhancing infrastructure in key sectors.
