London, April 25 (NationPress) The High Commission of India in London conducted a poignant memorial event to honor the lives lost in the Pahalgam terrorist attack and to express solidarity with the heart of India.

During the ceremony, dignitaries and community members united in a moment of silence, reaffirming their support for India.

The gathering on Thursday saw participation from UK Minister Catherine West; L. Murugan, the Indian Union Minister of State for the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting and Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs; UK Conservative Party MP Bob Blackman; and UK Labour Party MP Kanishka Narayan; as well as Members of the UK House of Lords, Baroness Verma, Lord Raval, and Maharashtra's Minister of Social Justice, Sanjay Shirsat. A significant number of Indian diaspora members also attended to pay their respects to the innocent lives lost in this tragic attack.

“With a unified voice, they condemned terrorism and emphasized that it must face consequences -- asserting that India will seek to identify, track down, and hold accountable every terrorist, their operators, and their supporters. The commemoration concluded with the recitation of a shloka from the Brihadaranyaka Upanishad, invoking peace and well-being for everyone,” stated the High Commission.

In a strong statement following the brutal terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir, Prime Minister Narendra Modi declared on Thursday that the perpetrators would be pursued to the “ends of the earth” and that terrorism would not be tolerated.

"India will find, track, and bring to justice every terrorist, their handlers, and their supporters. We will pursue them to the ends of the earth. The spirit of India will remain unbroken by terrorism," he declared while addressing a large audience in Bihar's Madhubani.

The horrific incident, which resulted in the deaths of 25 tourists and a local resident, as well as several others sustaining serious injuries, took place on Tuesday in the Baisaran Valley near Pahalgam. Heavily armed terrorists emerged from the surrounding dense woodlands and opened fire indiscriminately on innocent tourists. This attack has been labeled one of the most atrocious in the region's recent history.

Intelligence reports indicate that the Pakistan-based terror group The Resistance Front (TRF), an offshoot of the banned Lashkar-e-Taiba, has claimed responsibility for the assault.

The attack has catalyzed a series of strong diplomatic and strategic countermeasures from India, including the suspension of the Indus Water Treaty, expulsion of Pakistani military personnel, closure of the Attari-Wagah border, and cancellation of the SAARC Visa Exemption Scheme for Pakistani citizens.
