New Delhi, April 23 (NationPress) In the aftermath of the horrific terror assault in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir (J&K), which resulted in the deaths of 26 individuals, including tourists, locals, an Indian Navy personnel, and an Intelligence officer, political leaders have expressed their outrage and sorrow. Union Ministers have called for a collective response against terrorism and foreign-backed violence.
Union Minister Ramdas Athawale shared his alarm regarding the nature and timing of this attack, labeling it as one of the most unsettling occurrences in recent history. "This is a significant incident after a long duration, particularly since such an attack had not taken place at a tourist destination before. I unequivocally condemn this act. Pakistan has historically played such a role, persistently infiltrating and dispatching terrorists into India to challenge us," he stated.
"This signifies a serious challenge to India, especially as individuals who were not Muslim were specifically targeted," he added. Athawale also called for political unity in light of the tragedy. "In response to the Pahalgam attack, the Opposition, the ruling party, and the entire nation should unite their voices," he urged.
Union Minister Pralhad Joshi also expressed his sorrow over the loss of life, particularly noting the death of a native from Karnataka. "The terrorist assault in Pahalgam, Kashmir, is profoundly alarming. It is tragic that Manjunatha Rao from Shivamogga, Karnataka, lost his life when militants opened fire in a well-known tourist location. My heartfelt prayers are with the souls lost, and I wish strength to their families during this challenging moment," Joshi remarked.
BJP MP Sakshi Maharaj, while denouncing the attack, raised broader concerns regarding the ongoing targeting of Hindus. "This is utterly reprehensible, and it is time to question how long Hindus will continue to endure such suffering? During the Partition, Hindus were murdered. In Godhra, Hindus were assaulted. In communal riots, Hindus faced violence. In Bangladesh, Hindus were oppressed. In Belgaum, Hindus are still targeted. In Pulwama, Hindus were killed. Hindus continually face brutality," he declared.
The Pahalgam assault, occurring in the picturesque Baisaran Valley, stands as one of the most atrocious attacks on civilians in recent times. With reports indicating that terrorists emerged from nearby forests and opened fire indiscriminately on tourists, the event has reverberated throughout the nation.
As investigations proceed and security measures heighten in the area, leaders from various political factions have demanded immediate action to avert future attacks and ensure accountability for those responsible.
