Berlin, April 26 (NationPress) The Indian Embassy in Berlin hosted a poignant ceremony to pay tribute to the victims of the horrific terror attack that occurred on April 22 in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir.

The assault, which resulted in the loss of 26 innocent lives, was executed by The Resistance Front (TRF), an offshoot of the Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT).

The memorial gathering, held on Friday, attracted over 100 participants, including high-ranking officials from various ministries of the Federal Government of Germany, members of the diplomatic community, and the Indian diaspora in Germany.

India's Ambassador to Germany, Ajit Gupte, delivered heartfelt tributes to the victims and conveyed Prime Minister Narendra Modi's strong condemnation of the terror attack.

Ambassador Gupte also highlighted the attackers' aim to disrupt the peace and stability that Jammu and Kashmir has experienced in recent years, especially with the increase in tourism in the region.

Participants expressed their solidarity with India’s battle against terrorism and voiced their support for justice and peace. Attendees at the event paid their respects and observed a moment of silence in memory of the lives lost.

In the wake of the brutal attack, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz also denounced the incident, labeling it a "cowardly terrorist attack on tourists in Pahalgam."

In a post on X, he expressed, "Our thoughts are with the families of the victims, and we wish the injured a swift recovery. Our sincere condolences go out to the people of India."

On April 24, External Affairs Minister (EAM) S. Jaishankar met with Jens Plotner, Foreign and Security Policy Advisor to Chancellor Scholz, to discuss the Pahalgam attack and enhance bilateral cooperation.

Jaishankar, acknowledging Germany's support, noted on X, "Pleased to meet Foreign and Security Policy Advisor to German Chancellor Jens Plotner today. Appreciate Germany's expression of solidarity regarding the recent terrorist attack in India."
