Pakistan Takes Action Against Human Traffickers Following Tragic Boat Capsize in Greece

Islamabad, Dec 16 (NationPress) The Prime Minister of Pakistan, Shehbaz Sharif, has reacted with urgency to the tragic incident of a boat capsizing near the southern region of Crete Island in Greece, which was transporting a significant number of Pakistanis seeking to enter Europe unlawfully. He has ordered the country's interior ministry to identify and apprehend the human trafficking networks operating within the nation.

As of now, at least one Pakistani individual has been confirmed dead, while approximately 47 others have been rescued following the boat capsizing incidents off the coast of Crete Island on Sunday. The foreign office of Pakistan has indicated that they are unable to confirm the total number of deceased or missing Pakistani nationals at this time.

According to preliminary reports, 47 Pakistanis are among those who have been saved in the aftermath of the recent boat capsizing occurrences in Crete Island, with one confirmed fatality. Currently, there is no confirmation regarding the number of deceased or missing Pakistani citizens,” stated a release from Pakistan's foreign office.

The Prime Minister emphasized, “Human trafficking is a devastating crime that results in the loss of numerous lives and inflicts suffering on many families each year.”

“The human traffickers are a ruthless mafia that exploits the disadvantaged, luring them with deceptive and ambitious promises,” he added.

The boats in question were carrying cargo vessels filled with illegal migrants attempting to unlawfully enter Europe. This incident has brought attention to the existence of human trafficking networks operating in various parts of Pakistan, preying on vulnerable and struggling individuals to manipulate them into using illegal routes to leave the country.

“Human trafficking is a vile act that inflicts endless pain and suffering,” remarked the President of Pakistan, Asif Ali Zardari.

The boat capsizing event has prompted the Pakistani government to activate its Crisis Management Unit (CMU) to aid in identifying Pakistani nationals and to provide necessary support.

“The embassy has also mobilized its Crisis Management Unit (CMU) to assist Pakistanis in Greece,” noted the foreign office of Pakistan.

Furthermore, the interior ministry of Pakistan has instructed the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) to take prompt action against the human trafficking syndicates and smuggling networks operating in the country.

“In light of this tragedy, the interior minister has formed an inquiry committee tasked with examining the incident, with findings expected within five days,” stated Pakistan's Interior Minister, Mohsin Naqvi.
