Quetta, Nov 12 (NationPress) A disturbing report has emerged indicating that two Baloch civilians, including a minor, were forcibly taken by Pakistani forces in Balochistan as the province grapples with a rising tide of enforced disappearances, according to a prominent human rights organization on Wednesday.

The Baloch National Movement's Human Rights Department, known as Paank, condemned the abduction of Tajah Bugti and his young son Mir Ahmed Bugti, who were taken in broad daylight on Tuesday by personnel from Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) and Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) in the Dera Bugti district.

“The seizure of a father and his child underscores the alarming extent of state repression in Balochistan, where even children are not immune to the cycle of enforced disappearances,” stated Paank.

The rights organization held Pakistani authorities and its security forces accountable for the safety and immediate return of both victims. It urged the international community, human rights groups, and the media to urgently address the ongoing policy of collective punishment against the Baloch population.

In a broader context of atrocities in Balochistan, numerous human rights organizations have condemned the extrajudicial killing of Mir Dost, a resident of the Kosh Kalat area in Kech district, who was killed by the Pakistani military on November 10, nearly nine months after his enforced disappearance.

The Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC) revealed that Mir Dost’s body, riddled with bullets and bearing signs of torture, was discovered on November 10 in the Ginnah region of Kech.

“His family reported that Mir Dost was forcibly taken from his home on February 13, 2025, by personnel of the Pakistani security forces. For almost nine months, his family endured endless anguish, unaware of his fate despite their repeated appeals to authorities. After many months of silence, his tortured body was recovered, confirming his extrajudicial killing while in state custody,” stated the BYC.

“This incident is part of an ongoing and disturbing trend of enforced disappearances and extrajudicial killings in Balochistan. Families continue to endure unimaginable grief as state-supported violence grows unchecked. The lack of accountability and rule of law has emboldened such abuses, leaving the people of Balochistan in a perpetual state of fear and mourning,” it added.

Condemning this brutal act as part of a larger pattern of enforced disappearances and extrajudicial killings in Balochistan, the Baloch Voice for Justice (BVJ) has called upon the United Nations and international human rights organizations to swiftly investigate and hold Pakistan accountable for these serious violations.

Point of View

We stand firmly with our nation and the people of Balochistan. The ongoing enforced disappearances and extrajudicial killings are unacceptable. It is imperative that we highlight these violations and demand justice for the victims and their families. Accountability is crucial to restoring trust and ensuring the safety of our citizens.
