Palestinian Authority Calls for Global Action to Resolve Gaza Crisis

Ramallah, Jan 13 (NationPress) The Palestinian Authority has called upon the global community to intensify its efforts to put an end to the violent conflict in Gaza, accusing Israel of widespread killings, destruction, and displacement.
Under the leadership of President Mahmoud Abbas, the Palestinian Authority has been dedicated from the very beginning to ending the conflict and shielding Palestinians from devastation, as stated by Presidential spokesperson Nabil Abu Rudeineh in an interview with WAFA news agency.
According to Abu Rudeineh, the Israeli military actions have led to the death, injury, and disappearance of over 200,000 individuals.
President Abbas is actively engaged in discussions with both Arab and international entities to hasten a ceasefire and implement UN Security Council Resolution 2735, the spokesperson noted.
The Palestinian leadership asserts that it is crucial to pressure the occupying state to bring an end to its extensive conflict against the people in Gaza and to stop the ongoing Israeli violations in the West Bank and East Jerusalem, as reported by Xinhua news agency.
The presidential spokesperson emphasized that achieving security and stability in the region is contingent upon honoring Arab and international legitimacy, urging significant nations to take immediate action to enforce adherence to UN resolutions and to put an end to what he termed Israel's impunity.
The latest cycle of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict erupted on October 7, 2023, following an extraordinary escalation between the Israeli army and Hamas, resulting in full-scale confrontations.
This conflict has led to extensive destruction in the Gaza Strip and an unprecedented civilian death toll.
On Monday, Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Sa'ar stated that progress has been made in the negotiations taking place in Qatar regarding a ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas that would secure the release of hostages.
Sa'ar mentioned, "There is progress in the negotiations to release the hostages," during joint remarks with Danish Foreign Minister Lars Lokke Rasmussen, who is visiting the region.
"Israel is strongly committed to releasing the hostages and is diligently working to finalize a deal," Sa'ar added.
