Palestinian Shot Dead by Israeli Forces at West Bank Checkpoint

Ramallah, Dec 8 (NationPress) A Palestinian man was fatally shot by Israeli forces near a military checkpoint in the West Bank, as indicated by reports from both Palestinian and Israeli sources.
According to local accounts and eyewitnesses, Israeli troops positioned at the Qalandia military checkpoint, located to the north of Jerusalem, discharged live ammunition on Saturday directly at a Palestinian individual, as reported by the Xinhua news agency.
Eyewitnesses noted that Israeli forces halted Palestinian vehicles at the checkpoint and temporarily sealed it off.
The Palestinian Health Ministry, based in Ramallah, identified the deceased as 27-year-old Tariq Amjad Musa Ghazawneh, whose remains were transported to a hospital.
Israeli Police acknowledged the event in a statement, asserting that they had prevented an attack at the Qalandia checkpoint.
The statement detailed that an individual wielding a knife approached the checkpoint and discharged fireworks at Israeli security personnel.
It further noted that a civilian security guard fatally shot the assailant on-site, with no injuries reported among Israeli forces.
