Doha, June 23 (NationPress) The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Qatar announced a temporary cessation of air traffic as a precautionary action following Iran's retaliatory strikes on US military installations in Qatar.
“In light of Qatar's commitment to safeguarding its citizens, residents, and visitors, the relevant authorities have declared the temporary halt of air navigation within the nation's airspace, which is part of a broader set of precautionary actions taken in response to the recent regional developments,” stated the foreign ministry.
The ministry emphasized that official agencies are diligently and continuously assessing the situation in collaboration with regional and international stakeholders, and will keep the public informed through official channels.
They reiterated that the security and safety of everyone on Qatari territory remains a paramount concern, and the state is prepared to implement all necessary preventive measures.
Previously, Iran was reported to have launched six missiles targeting US military bases located in Iraq and Qatar.
Media outlets indicated that this operation was dubbed “Annunciation of Victory.” Fortunately, there were no significant effects from the missile strikes on the US bases in Qatar, as the American Patriot missile defense systems successfully intercepted the Iranian missiles.
