Tehran, June 23 (NationPress) Iran has reportedly launched six missiles targeting American military installations in Iraq and Qatar on Monday, escalating tensions with Israel and the United States.
The operation, referred to as “Annunciation of Victory”, did not result in significant damage to the US bases in Qatar, as the American Patriot missile defense systems successfully intercepted the Iranian projectiles.
Additionally, it was reported that the US activated its air defense system at the Ain Al-Asad airbase in Iraq.
The White House has stated it is actively monitoring potential threats to the Al Udeid air base in Qatar. An official confirmed, “The White House and the United States Defence Department are closely monitoring potential threats to Al Udeid air base in Qatar.”
Earlier, explosions were reported in the Qatari capital, Doha.
On the same day, India’s Permanent Representative to the UN, Shambhu S. Kumaran, emphasized the importance of securing nuclear facilities amidst the escalating conflict between Iran and Israel in West Asia.
“Ensuring the safety and security of nuclear facilities is a high priority, considering the potential impacts of such attacks on public health and the environment,” stated Ambassador Kumaran during a special meeting of the IAEA Board of Governors regarding the situation in Iran.
He further expressed India's deep concern over the recent rise in tensions in the Middle East, particularly regarding attacks on various nuclear facilities in Iran.
Ambassador Kumaran urged the IAEA to keep the board informed about the extent of damage to nuclear facilities and to report on radiation levels.
He reiterated India’s call for all parties to exercise utmost restraint to ensure the safety and security of nuclear facilities are not compromised, and expressed India's willingness to provide necessary support.
