Key Takeaways
Jaipur, Feb 4 (NationPress) Rajasthan's Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma expressed on Wednesday that the recently concluded trade agreement between India and the United States is poised to be a transformative factor for the state's economic landscape.
According to CM Sharma, Rajasthan is set to experience substantial advantages from this landmark trade deal.
He voiced hope regarding the agreement forged under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, indicating that it showcases the increasing global faith in India's economic prowess.
Sharma pointed out the reduction of US tariffs on Indian goods from 50% down to 18%, which he believes will enhance the competitiveness of Indian products in one of the largest markets worldwide.
"This significant reduction in tariffs will greatly enhance market accessibility for Indian exporters. It breathes new life into the 'Make in India' and 'Aatmanirbhar Bharat' initiatives on a global scale," he remarked.
The Chief Minister noted that Rajasthan, being a prominent export-driven state, stands to gain considerably, particularly in its textile sector, which is a vital component of the state's economy.
"With improved access to the US market, the demand for Rajasthan's textile and garment products is anticipated to surge. This is particularly advantageous for MSMEs, which are key to job creation," stated CM Sharma.
He also highlighted Rajasthan's rich cultural and artisanal legacy, asserting that the agreement would generate new avenues for the state's handicraft industry, including blue pottery, miniature paintings, marble, wooden crafts, and handwoven textiles.
Additionally, he claimed that the deal would provide relief and growth prospects for Jaipur's globally renowned gems and jewellery sector, ensuring better pricing and wider market access for artisans and traders.
CM Sharma emphasized that the rise in exports would have a multiplier effect on the state’s economy, leading to new job opportunities in related sectors such as transport, packaging, banking, and insurance.
He called upon stakeholders and citizens to unite in the quest for a prosperous, developed, and self-sufficient Rajasthan.
Furthermore, he noted India's expanding role in global trade, highlighting that the nation has entered into nine significant trade agreements over the past six years.
"When the world’s two largest democracies and economies collaborate, the benefits reach entrepreneurs, laborers, and everyday citizens. Today, the global community is eager to deepen its engagement with India," concluded CM Sharma.
