Quetta, Nov 3 (NationPress) A human rights organization has accused Pakistani security forces of the forced disappearance of three more Baloch civilians in Balochistan, contributing to the increasing tally of enforced disappearances reported in this unstable province.
This latest incident emerges amid a persistent cycle of persecution characterized by a spike in enforced disappearances, extrajudicial killings, and torture against Baloch civilians.
The Baloch National Movement's Human Rights Department, known as Paank, reported that between October 30 and 31, Pakistani security forces executed a raid on a residence in the Bahaman area of Turbat city, situated in the Kech district of Balochistan. During this operation, three individuals were forcibly taken from their homes.
The victims have been named as Yasir, Waheed Ahmed, and Zareef Ahmed.
Additionally, Paank has strongly condemned the daylight murder of a young Baloch student, Abdul Rehman, by death squads allegedly backed by Pakistan in the Tump district.
“Reports have reached us indicating that this was not an arbitrary act of violence by ‘unknown individuals,’ but a targeted, extrajudicial execution orchestrated by state-sponsored death squads supported by Pakistani forces. The killing of a student in his own shop, deliberately in front of his father, serves as a tactic of terror meant to silence, intimidate, and collectively punish the Baloch population,” the rights body asserted.
Paank characterized this horrific incident as a glaring example of Pakistan's strategy of employing proxy militias to wage war against the Baloch people, fabricating a “law and order situation” to rationalize its own acts of violence.
“When state-backed entities can commit murder with such blatant impunity, it signifies not a breakdown of law and order but its very execution. This act represents a violation of the fundamental right to life and highlights the utter failure of the justice system in Balochistan,” the rights organization emphasized.
Last week, Paank denounced the abduction, torture, sexual assault, and subsequent extrajudicial killing of Baloch woman Nazia Shafi, along with the brutal abduction and torture of her mother, and the enforced disappearance of her brother by Pakistani forces in the Panchi area of Panjgur district.
“This occurrence is not a random act of violence; it is a deliberate act of terror aimed at silencing and subjugating the Baloch populace. The abduction and assault of women is a well-documented method of state oppression in Balochistan, employed to impose collective punishment and undermine the resolve of the nation. This crime constitutes multiple severe breaches of both Pakistani and international human rights laws,” the rights body articulated.
