The MoS arrived in the capital city, Quito, on Tuesday for his inaugural visit to Ecuador. Throughout his stay, he will meet with the country's leadership and officially open the Indian Embassy in Quito.
Margherita expressed on X, “I have just landed in Quito for my first visit to Ecuador. I am eager to engage with the leadership, inaugurate the Indian Embassy, and connect with business and Indian community representatives.”
This trip to Ecuador marks the beginning of Margherita’s official tour of three nations in the Latin America and Caribbean Region - Ecuador, Bolivia, and Cuba, scheduled from November 4-10.
The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) indicated that during his visit, the MoS is anticipated to meet with political leaders in these countries to address mutual interests and evaluate the progression of bilateral ties, focusing on trade, technology, tourism, development cooperation, and capacity building.
While in Ecuador, the MEA noted that Margherita will assess preparations for establishing a permanent Indian Mission in Quito.
“This visit by the MoS for External Affairs and Textiles aims to sustain the momentum of our political engagements with Ecuador, Bolivia, and Cuba, and strengthen India’s enduring and amicable relations with these nations, underscoring our mutual commitment to South-South cooperation and development,” stated the MEA prior to Margherita’s visit.
Moreover, during his visit to Bolivia, Margherita is set to represent the Government of India at the inauguration of the newly-elected President of the Plurinational State of Bolivia on November 8 in La Paz.
In Cuba, the MEA mentioned that the Minister would focus on enhancing bilateral ties, particularly in health, medicine, digital public infrastructure, and capacity building.
