La Paz, Nov 8 (NationPress) Union Minister of State for External Affairs Pabitra Margherita received a warm welcome from La Paz Mayor Ivan Arias at the historic Palacio Consistorial in Bolivia.
The meeting was characterized by a cordial dialogue aimed at enhancing collaborations between India and Bolivia in various fields, including yoga, culture, healthcare, urban planning, and the promotion of Gandhian philosophy.
“I am delighted to receive this recognition on behalf of the people of India. I sincerely thank Mayor Iván Arias and the people of Bolivia for their gracious welcome and this great honour,” Margherita shared on X.
Following a successful visit to Ecuador, the MoS arrived in La Paz on Friday to represent India at the inauguration ceremony of the new President of Bolivia. His schedule includes inaugurating the newly-opened Embassy of India in La Paz, as well as engaging with business leaders, the Indian community, ITEC alumni, and cultural groups.
Margherita noted on X, “I have arrived in La Paz, the world’s highest capital, to represent India at the inauguration of the new President of Bolivia. I look forward to inaugurating our new embassy and connecting with business leaders, the Indian community, ITEC alumni, and cultural groups.”
Last month, Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated Rodrigo Paz Pereira on his presidential election victory in Bolivia, expressing his desire to further strengthen ties between the two nations in the upcoming years.
“Warm congratulations, Mr. Rodrigo Paz Pereira, on your election as the President of Bolivia. The close and amicable relationship between India and Bolivia has long supported our mutually beneficial cooperation. I look forward to enhancing our partnership for shared growth and prosperity,” PM Modi posted on X.
Pereira, aged 58, emerged victorious in the presidential runoff election held on October 19, as per the preliminary results from the Supreme Electoral Tribunal (TSE).
He will officially take office on November 8, with a five-year term running from 2025 to 2030.
India and Bolivia share a cordial and friendly relationship. According to the Ministry of External Affairs, the bilateral exchanges, trade, and investment show promising potential for increasing mutually beneficial cooperation. Both countries are working toward enhancing engagement and forming partnerships in sectors such as minerals, infrastructure development, health and pharmaceuticals, Information Technology, and capacity building.
