Havana, Nov 11 (NationPress) The Minister of State (MoS) for External Affairs, Pabitra Margherita, met with Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel Bermudez on Tuesday in Havana. Their discussions were centered on strengthening bilateral cooperation.
After their meeting, Margherita shared on X, "Met with the President of Cuba H.E Miguel Diaz-Canel Bermudez to discuss bilateral cooperation."
Earlier that day, Margherita visited the Fidel Castro Centre in Havana, paying homage to Cuba’s revolutionary leadership and recognizing the strong ties between Cuba and India.

On Monday, Margherita arrived in Havana for his official visit after representing India at the inauguration ceremony of Bolivian President Rodrigo Paz Pereira in Bolivia.

The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) stated that during his visit to Cuba, the MoS will discuss ways to further strengthen bilateral relations, particularly in health and medicine, digital public infrastructure, and capacity building.
India and Cuba have a strong foundation of bilateral ties that have always been friendly. India was among the first nations to recognize the new Cuban government following the Cuban revolution in January 1959, as per the MEA. The visit of Major Ernesto Guevara (Che) to India in 1959 solidified diplomatic relations, leading to the establishment of embassies in both capitals.
