Quito, Nov 6 (NationPress) Union Minister of State for External Affairs Pabitra Margherita met with the President of Ecuador, Daniel Noboa Azin, on Thursday to explore avenues for enhancing and diversifying bilateral collaboration between India and Ecuador.
The MoS extended greetings from Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the people of India to the Ecuadorian leader.
“I am honored to meet Daniel Noboa Azin, the President of Ecuador. I conveyed greetings from PM Narendra Modi and the people of India. We had a fruitful discussion on strengthening and diversifying India–Ecuador bilateral cooperation,” Margherita shared on X following the meeting.
Additionally, the MoS paid homage at the Monument of the Heroes of August in Quito, Ecuador’s capital.
“This monument commemorates those who sacrificed their lives for freedom and liberty. I felt nostalgic recalling their bravery and spirit,” remarked Margherita on X.
Margherita also engaged with Ecuadorian Ministers, Vice Ministers, and officials to deepen cooperation across essential sectors such as agriculture, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, training, education, culture, tourism, trade, textiles, health, and pharmaceuticals.
The MoS reaffirmed India’s commitment to engage with Ecuador within the framework of South-South cooperation.
Additionally, a meeting was held with Ecuador’s Minister of Foreign and Human Mobility Affairs, Gabriela Sommerfeld.
Both parties discussed opportunities to enhance cooperation in politics, trade, pharmaceuticals, training, and capacity building, among other areas of mutual interest. During this meeting, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the diplomatic training institutions of India and Ecuador.
On Wednesday, the MoS and Foreign Minister Sommerfeld jointly inaugurated the resident Embassy of India in Quito, highlighting India’s dedication to fortifying its partnership with Ecuador.
“I am honored and delighted to inaugurate the resident Embassy of India in Quito with Gabriela Sommerfeld, the Foreign Minister of Ecuador. This signifies India’s commitment to deepen its partnership with Ecuador and marks a new chapter in our bilateral relations,” Margherita posted on X.
Furthermore, the MoS interacted with representatives from the Ecuadorian business community to discuss strategies for boosting bilateral trade relations between India and Ecuador.
