Singapore, Dec 3 (NationPress) The Prime Minister of Singapore, Lawrence Wong, has confirmed that he tested positive for Covid-19 for the first time on Tuesday and will be entering self-isolation while continuing to work from home, as he shared on Facebook.

Wong reported waking up with a severe sore throat in the morning, and subsequently verified his infection by posting a photo of his test result, according to the Xinhua news agency.

In his message, he mentioned that he is feeling fine overall.

The 51-year-old Wong was sworn in as Singapore's fourth Prime Minister in May.

Covid-19 is caused by the SARS-CoV-2 virus, which leads to a range of symptoms.

While most individuals infected with the virus will experience mild to moderate respiratory symptoms and recover without requiring significant medical intervention, some may become severely ill and necessitate medical care. Individuals who are older or have underlying health issues such as cardiovascular disease, diabetes, chronic respiratory conditions, or cancer are at greater risk of experiencing severe illness. It’s important to note that anyone can contract Covid-19 and could potentially become seriously ill or even die at any age.
