Six Lives Lost as Alleged Bandits Trigger Explosives in Nigeria

Abuja, Dec 5 (NationPress) A tragic event unfolded in the northwestern state of Zamfara, leaving six individuals dead and eight others injured when alleged bandits triggered improvised explosive devices concealed beneath a bridge, as reported by the police.
Mohammed Dalijan, the police chief of Zamfara, informed Xinhua via telephone on Wednesday that two vehicles traversing the explosives were obliterated beneath the Mai Lamba bridge, situated along the Dansadu-Gusau road in the Maru local government area.
This explosive assault on Wednesday marked the second such occurrence in that area within the week, noted Dalijan, following an earlier incident on Sunday that resulted in the death of a passerby, the destruction of a vehicle, and damage to the bridge where the explosives were placed.
The casualties from Wednesday's attack were local residents, including women who were traveling from Gusau, the state capital, to Dansadu, as stated by the police chief.
He added that the police have deployed a tactical unit to determine the nature of the explosives through laboratory examinations.
