New Delhi, Oct 12 (NationPress) Afghanistan's Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi stated on Sunday that certain individuals in Pakistan are attempting to exacerbate tensions along the border, emphasizing Kabul's obligation to safeguard its citizens.

During a press conference at the Afghanistan Embassy in New Delhi, Muttaqi addressed the recent military actions along the Durand Line following Pakistani airstrikes on Kabul and Paktika on October 9.

He noted, "I want to clarify our relationship with Pakistan today. Many people in Pakistan, including some politicians and government officials, desire peaceful relations with Afghanistan. Our issues lie not with the Pakistani populace, but with certain individuals who are provoking tensions. Thus, Afghanistan must defend its citizens' rights."

Muttaqi assured that the situation along the Pakistani border is currently "under control" and reiterated that Kabul seeks only peace in the region.

He remarked, "The recent violations from Pakistan were met with a decisive response. Our counteraction achieved its objectives. Our allies, Saudi Arabia and Qatar, urged us to cease military actions, which we did. The situation is now stable, and we are open to fostering good relations. We have established peace in Afghanistan and wish for it to extend to all."

Earlier today, Zabihullah Mujahid, the chief spokesman for the Taliban regime, reported that during the retaliatory operation along the Durand Line, 58 Pakistani soldiers were killed and 30 injured.

He added that 20 Pakistani security outposts were dismantled and numerous weapons were confiscated during the operation conducted on Saturday night.

"In this operation, nine Afghan soldiers were also martyred, and 16 others were wounded, alongside the destruction of 20 Pakistani security outposts," Mujahid stated.
