Seoul, Dec 11 (NationPress) - The Speaker of the South Korean National Assembly, Woo Won-shik, announced on Wednesday that he has exercised his authority to launch a parliamentary investigation regarding President Yoon Suk Yeol's brief declaration of martial law that occurred last week.
Woo emphasized the urgent need for a dedicated special committee to oversee the parliamentary inquiry, as reported by Yonhap news agency.
During a press briefing, Woo stated that this parliamentary investigation is essential to obtain public testimony from Yoon concerning the martial law declaration made on December 3.
A parliamentary official indicated that the Assembly is aiming to conduct this probe with utmost speed due to the gravity of the situation.
