South Korea: Police and Prosecutors Initiate Investigations into Martial Law Declaration

Seoul, Dec 6 (NationPress) South Korean police and the prosecution initiated separate investigation teams on Friday to address allegations concerning President Yoon Suk Yeol's brief declaration of martial law earlier this week.
The police announced the formation of a specialized investigation unit comprising approximately 120 personnel to probe into four complaints that accuse Yoon and others of treason, mutiny, and abuse of power regarding the imposition and subsequent rescinding of martial law on Tuesday, as reported by Yonhap news agency.
Meanwhile, the prosecution has set up a special investigation headquarters led by Park Se-hyun, the chief of the Seoul High Prosecutors Office, to address similar allegations.
Military prosecutors will also collaborate with the prosecutors in a joint effort to thoroughly evaluate an event that involved senior military officials and the brief deployment of troops.
