South Korean Authorities to Summon Counterintelligence Head Amid Martial Law Investigation

Seoul, Dec 9 (NationPress) South Korea's police have announced they will summon the counterintelligence chief and former Interior Minister as part of a comprehensive investigation into the recent, brief imposition of martial law, officials stated on Monday.
The police have notified Lieutenant General Yeo In-hyung, head of the Defence Counterintelligence Command (DCC), along with ex-Interior Minister Lee Sang-min, regarding this plan, according to police sources.
However, the specific date for their summons remains undetermined.
Earlier in the day, prosecutors conducted a raid on the DCC headquarters located in Gawcheon, just south of Seoul, as part of a separate inquiry concerning alleged treason linked to the martial law incident, as reported by Yonhap news agency.
Military prosecutors were also involved in the raid, which was authorized by a military court warrant. The operation reportedly encompassed the offices and homes of Yeo and other senior officials, as well as DCC branch offices throughout Seoul and other regions nationwide.
These actions followed President Yoon Suk Yeol's abrupt declaration of martial law last Tuesday, which was rescinded just hours later after the National Assembly voted for its termination.
The DCC plays a crucial role in the martial law declaration process, having dispatched troops and personnel to the National Assembly and the National Election Commission at that time.
Last week, Yeo was suspended from his duties, and Lee resigned from his position on Sunday.
