The Hague, May 20 (NationPress) External Affairs Minister (EAM) S. Jaishankar, while in the Netherlands, commended the Indian diaspora for their vital role in strengthening ties between India and this European country.
"I had the pleasure of engaging with members of the Indian community this evening. Their contributions are invaluable in fostering a robust relationship between India and the Netherlands," EAM shared on X on Tuesday.
Earlier on Monday, EAM Jaishankar met with Defence Minister Ruben Brekelmans in The Hague, exchanging insights on security perspectives and the challenges faced by both nations, while also discussing the advantages of a bilateral defence collaboration.
Additionally, EAM Jaishankar held discussions with Dutch Foreign Minister Caspar Veldkamp in The Hague, recognizing the Netherlands' strong denunciation of the April 22 Pahalgam terrorist attack and its commitment to zero tolerance against terrorism.
The two leaders engaged in extensive talks regarding the enhancement of bilateral relations and cooperation with the European Union, as well as sharing perspectives on the global landscape amidst growing multi-polarity.
In addition to the Foreign Minister, the EAM interacted with strategic analysts, emphasizing the need for deeper collaboration between India and the Netherlands.

Prior to these meetings, Jaishankar was welcomed by Indian Ambassador to the Netherlands, Kumar Tuhin, and Gabriella Sancisi, the Director of Protocol and Host Country Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
He is on an official six-day visit to the Netherlands, Denmark, and Germany, from May 19 to 24, as announced by the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) on Sunday.
As per the MEA, the EAM's visit is part of India's ongoing diplomatic efforts to fortify strategic alliances and enhance cooperation with key European partners, focusing on trade, investment, and regional-global issues.
"Throughout the visit, the EAM will engage with leadership from the three nations, discussing the full spectrum of bilateral relationships and regional-global matters of shared interest," the MEA stated.
