Syrian Defense Minister Stresses Military Preparedness to Regain Territories from Insurgent Forces

Damascus, Dec 6 (NationPress) The Defence Minister of Syria has highlighted the military's readiness to recover territories lost to insurgent forces, characterizing the withdrawal from the central city of Hama as a strategic decision.
Ali Mahmoud Abbas made these statements on Thursday night during a televised address regarding the ongoing conflicts with rebel factions, according to Xinhua news agency.
"We have been engaged in intense and ongoing skirmishes against the most radical terrorist organizations, which utilize guerrilla tactics. This necessitates our armed forces to adopt suitable strategies, which include advances, withdrawals, and redeployments," Abbas stated.
The Minister described the current battlefield situation as favorable, noting that the recent repositioning of troops outside of Hama was a strategic action aimed at safeguarding civilians.
"This is a temporary measure. Our forces are positioned on the outskirts of Hama, completely ready to execute their national and constitutional responsibilities," he assured, reiterating that the military's maneuvers are part of a larger strategy to guarantee lasting stability.
Abbas further accused the insurgent groups of disseminating misinformation designed to incite chaos during the army's withdrawal, urging residents to depend solely on information provided through official sources.
The Minister expressed confidence in Syria's capability to navigate the current obstacles.
"With our army, populace, leadership, and the backing from our allies and friends, Syria is equipped to overcome any challenges, no matter how daunting they may be," he remarked.
The Minister's comments come as Syrian government forces are encountering assaults by rebel factions, led by Hayat Tahrir al-Sham, on various fronts in the northern, central, and eastern regions.
As of Thursday, the rebel forces had captured significant cities such as Aleppo and Hama following the army's announcement of a withdrawal from Hama and the repositioning of its forces outside the city.
